Ross L. Davis
June 3, 1915 -- April 28, 2001
Ross L. Davis, 85, Marion, died at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wesleyan Health Care Center.
He was a World War II Army veteran, married the late Wilma Rody, retired from St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo, and owned Phlox Grocery, Phlox.
Surviving are children, Melvin, Marion, and Diana, Angola; and sister, Edna Mumaw, Amboy.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday in Hasler-Pickett Funeral Home, Greentown. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.

Katherine C. Davis
Katherine C. (Piotrowski) Davis, 77, 643 Sacajawea Drive, who formerly worked as a press punch operator in Chicago, died Sunday of natural causes at a local hospital.
Visitation is today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at O'Connor Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association, P.O. Box 799, Minneapolis, MN 55440-0779.
She was born April 22, 1923, in Berlin, Wis., where she grew up and attended school.
She married Ruben L. Davis on Dec. 5, 1953, in Chicago.
She worked for the Green Duck Co. in Chicago and Jackson Industries as a punch press operator from 1968 until she retired in 1983. She moved to Great Falls in April 1997.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and taking care of her dog, Cody.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Rogers of Great Falls; a sister, Marion Ukropin of Chicago; a brother, John Piotrowski, also of Chicago; and two grandchildren.

ZENA D. DAVIS
GUILFORD, Zena D. Davis, 75, died April 7, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born August 23, 1925 in Willimantic, daughter of Vance and Nellie (McKenney) Leighton.
She is survived by Husband of 56 years, Webber H. Davis of Guilford; a son and his wife Edwin and Elaine Davis of Guilford and a daughter and her husband, Roxanne and Wayne Smith of Marlborough, Conn; 2 granddaughters, Chiantel Davis and her fiancé Mark Beaumont both of Baltimore and Danielle Davis and her fiancé Jason Goggin and their son Matthew Goggin all of Guilford; a sister June Miller of Brooksville, Florida and a brother, Reginald Leighton of Spring Hill, Florida. She was predeceased by a sister Maxine Hughes.
There will be no public services at this time. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

Clinton E. Davis
GRANDVILLE -- Clinton E. Davis, 85, of Grandville died Saturday, April 7, 2001.
He was a member of the Elks and a former member of the Black River Boat Club.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; two sons; five grand- children; and two great-grandchildren.
Private memorial services will take place.

Robert N. Davis, DDS
Died Jan. 28, 2001
Former Ludington dentist, Robert N. Davis, died at age 77 at his home in Escondido, Calif., Sunday afternoon, Jan. 28. He died of colorectal cancer.
The son of A. Wilber Davis and Margaret Ballentine, Robert N. Davis was born in Highland Park on Sept. 13, 1923, and moved to Ludington with his father and stepmother, Helen A. Davis, in 1935. A graduate of Ludington High School, he attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and then Michigan State University before graduating from Northwestern University School of Dentistry in 1945. He practiced dentistry in Ludington until moving to California in 1959, where he practiced in Escondido until his retirement in 1985. Dr. Davis was a life member of the Elks and had many friends in Ludington.
He was married to the former Ruth Dickey and she survives him along with their three children, Craig of Escondido, Nicole (David) Howerzyl of Boise, Idaho, and Sara (Joseph) Phelps of Escondido; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. A fourth child, Douglas Lee, died in infancy in Ludington.
Dr. Davis is also survived by a sister, Helen DeBeck, of Ludington, and three brothers, Gordon Davis of Newport Coast, Calif., Peter Davis of Ann Arbor, and John Davis of Lake Mary, Fla.
Dr. Davis was remarkably gifted as an artist and for that reason his dental work was honored both in dental school and in practice. He was also an accomplished cook and, like his father, a wonderful storyteller. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be taken back to Ludington to fulfill his last request.

Alburn Dean Davis, age 86, of Ludington, died Tuesday evening, March 27 at Baywood Nursing Home in Ludington.
Alburn was born Sept. 27, 1914, in Seymour, Tenn., the son of Caliph Luther and Nancy (Garner) Davis. He was a 1932 graduate of Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Ill. He moved to Ludington in 1935 where he married Alice Sherlock on Aug. 15, 1940, at St. Simon Catholic Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1990. He was a businessman in the Ludington area for many years. He and Alice owned Ludington Bottled Gas Company and Davis Grocery Store. He also worked for NASA at Cape Kennedy, Fla., for a number of winters, where he was involved in the Apollo 7, 8 and 9 space missions.
Alburn was a lifetime member of Ludington BPOE Lodge No. 736, Ludington Eagles Lodge No. 1354, and Ludington Moose Lodge No. 637. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman and former member of Lincoln Hills Golf Club.
Alburn is survived by his wife, Alice; his daughter and son-in-law, Dick and Nancy Zaino of Farmington, Conn.; four brothers, William (Naomi) Davis of Stuttgard, Ark., Caliph Davis of Lincoln, Ill., Samuel (JoAnn) Davis of Dawson, Ill., and James (Anita) Davis of Sullivan, Ill.; three sisters, Viola Yeazle of Lincoln, Ill., Jean Gorecki of Buffalo, Ill., and Nancy Walcott of Lincoln, Ill.; one aunt, Ruby Chiles of Springfield, Ill.; three grandsons, Todd Zaino of New Britain, Conn., Dean (Tammy) Zaino of Houston, Texas, and Jeff (Jeannie) Zaino of New Rochelle, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren, Josh and Robby Zaino of New Britain, Conn., Maxim Zaino of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Jessica Zaino of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Caliph and Nancy Davis, and his sister, Bernice Davis.
Cremation has taken place. A Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 30 by the Rev. Ken Schichtel at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington. A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Simon�s Food Pantry, c/o St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington.
Oak Grove Cremation Center of Manistee and Ludington is in charge of arrangements.
